China is home to the world’s largest blind population, with 5 million people currently living with the condition. Many of those affected live in impoverished areas with little to no access to proper medical treatment.

On May 11, the Hylink Shanghai office will be participating in E.G.G Walk-a-thon, a nation-wide campaign which aims to raise funds to improve the lives of children in underserved areas of China, such as rural Guizhou and Sichuan. Hylink’s contributions will go directly toward the Eye Tomorrow campaign, which helps blind children gain access to treatment and eye health education. During the walk-a-thon, Hylink participants are challenged to walk 50 kilometers (31 miles) within 12 hours.

Though mid-May in Shanghai can be particularly humid, the Hylink team is dedicated to completing the challenge to help children in need. Hylink also has a designated ‘cheer team’ that will encourage their colleagues as they walk.

Notably, the Chinese word for love is “ai,” pronounced the same as “eye” – and Hylink Shanghai hopes to spread the love and create a brighter world for everyone.
